I studied Mathematics and Biology (Genetics and Microbiology) at the University of Vienna and started my PhD studies at the Bioinformatics Institute in Leipzig in January 2017. The focus of my work lies on the development of phylogenetic models and algorithms for inferring gene and species trees from data, including complex evolutionary events such as horizontal gene transfer.
